Location, location, location!
This photo shows some of the reasons films like Whip It, Up in the Air, and Youth in Revolt are being shot in Detroit, which the state government is marketing as a great movie location. The producers of The Art of Power took advantage of living in Michigan and all the benefits that shooting there offered.

Back in Michigan!

Today is the third day of filming in Michigan. On Sunday, the crew was in Superior for a shoot in an upscale subdivision. On Monday, filming began at Regal Towers (where Wesley and Kai live). They’ll be filming there all week, on some days with just Wesley and Kai, on other days with Alexis and Sienna.

The dailies are looking beautiful and the crew is pushing through the long days. Luckily, we now have a caterer, so food is taken care of. Thanks, Mi Catering!

The Art of Power art exhibit was going on while we were shooting in D.C. If that’s not a sign that we were meant to be there, I don’t know what is.

Metro Mishap

As the crew was setting up for a scene in one of the metro stations, Scott (who plays Wesley) and the director, Nathanael, were having fun jumping on and off Metro trains as they pulled in the station.

Scott wanted to jump on one last time, but didn’t QUITE make it out before the doors closed and ended up accidentally going to the next station! Luckily, he made it back in time to shoot the scene, but I don’t think he’ll be playing on the Metro again soon.
